Judiciary workers set for showdown with FG over unpaid salaries
The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has warned the federal government to pay its members accumulated salaries owed them or be ready to face industrial action.
While speaking to newsmen in Abuja, Tuesday, JUSUN National President, Comrade Marwan Mustapha said the union will not hesitate to mobilise its members across the country to embark on strike if urgent steps are not taken to address the problem of unpaid salaries of its members at the federal level.
According to him, government should not take the peaceful nature of the union for granted, as its members are running out of patient adding that workers should not be made to suffer because of mismanagement of state resources by politicians.
We are calling on the Accountant General of the Federation, Budget Office and the Ministry of Finance to do all they can to pay federal judicial workers and judicial officers across the country.
“Judiciary workers in all the 36 states including FCT would not hesitate to go on sympathy strike over the plight of our counterparts at the federal level, if something urgent is not done to address the reason behind the unpaid salaries.
“We cannot accept the situation where since October our members at the federal have not been paid salaries and this has brought untold hardship on the workers who can’t pay bills as well as their children’s school fees.
“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene as judiciary workers across the country may embark on solidarity protest against this anti-workers practice on their members at the federal level, because an injury to one, is an injury to all,” he said.
