MASSOB Issues A Warning To Ohanaeze Ndigbo
The Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB)
has issued a warning to leaders of the Igbo socio-cultural
organisation, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
The group has threatened to take measures if Igbo leaders fail to guide their utterances against the Biafra agitation. The Punch reports that the warning was contained in a statement made by Uchenna Madu, MASSOB’s national director of information, on Sunday, November 22, in Awka, Anambra state.
On Friday, November 20, Chris Eluemunoh, the chairman of Ohanaeze in Anambra state, described the agitation for Biafra by some Igbo youths as “madness,” stressing that “Biafra died in 1970”.
Uchenna described Ohanaeze’s comment as selfish and irresponsible, and warned that it would be marched with desired punishment should it continue.
“The widely acceptance and consciousness of Biafra can never be thwarted or dislocated by disgruntled Igbo.
“The Anambra state chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo statement against Biafra is selfish and irresponsible. He’s an Igbo saboteur who always would sell his family because of money.
“How can a self-acclaimed Igbo leader openly and shamefully disown and condemn Biafra, the living symbol of Igbo survival?”
“MASSOB still believes that Ohanaeze Ndigbo cannot disown Biafra because the national leadership is still silent on this issue, but if finally it does, the Igbo nation will also disown and expel them from Igbo land,” the statement read in part.
MASSOB warned Igbo that if they do not stop making derogatory statements against Biafra, they will be banished from Igbo land.
Meanwhile, a faction of MASSOB has claimed that the detained Radio Biafra director, Nnamdi Kanu, may have been killed. The group leader said the information had been disclosed by some security operatives sympathetic to the Biafran issue.
A week earlier, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, the leader of MASSOB, stressed that Biafra should be actualized now or never, adding that there was no going back.
