Atiku Presidential Ambition 2019 Kicks; APC in Disarray

Atiku
The race for the 2019 presidential race has begun for
former vice president Atiku Abubakar.
To kickstart his presidential ambition, Atiku Abubakar,
has visited the national chairman of the All Progressives
Congress (APC) , Chief John Odigie-Oyegun at the
party’s secretariat in Abuja, yesterday, Monday, July
18.
Notably, Atiku has not visited the APC secretariat since
the last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in
with President Muhammadu Buhari also
in attendance.
However, yesterday he came with the full complement
of his media team, ignoring journalists who were
waiting to interview him According to Leadership, he entered the National secretariat at 12:50 without prior announcement in the company of the Adamawa state governor, Mohammed Bindow Jibrila. Together they walked straight to the national chairman’s office.
Chief Oyegun met with his visitors behind closed doors
for about 20 minutes, then they allowed other national
officers into the meeting.
When newsmen sought to know reasons for the sudden
visit, it was gathered that Atiku actually came to
familiarise himself with the party leaders ahead of the
party’s presidential primary in 2019.
Meanwhile, an insider gave another reason for the visit.
The insider who pledged to be anonymous, stated that
the party expressed concern over the story attributed to
him on restructuring of Nigeria.
According to him, the leadership of the APC told him that
they and the presidency were not happy with his
position on restructuring. He was told that such matter
was what he would have suggested to the party or the
presidency as an advice and not speak to the media on.
