Earlier this week, Tele Ikuru, the state’s deputy governor, announced that he was leaving the APC for the PDP. Mr. Ikuru stated that, as a person from Rivers State, he would not be forgiven if he opposed the reelection of President Goodluck Jonathan who hails from the same geopolitical zone known as the south south.
Mr. Ikuru also accused his erstwhile party, the APC, of being a party of insurgents. Following the postponement of general elections by six weeks, President Jonathan and the PDP have gone on a spending binge to lure numerous politicians, traditional rulers, and leaders of different groups to endorse Mr. Jonathan for reelection.
