Mum pole dancing with baby strapped to her back sparks online backlash
http://communitymat.blogspot.com/
Mother of a younger girl, Ashley Wright, came under fire from people on
social media after she posted a video of herself pole dancing with her
baby strapped to her back.
In the Youtube video, Ashley performed a series of moves to The Circle of Life, a popular Disney song from the Lion King film, with her baby secured to her back in a material sling. Alongside her video, Ashley wrote: "Decided we should do a routine together... And so thankful other could help assist me in capturing and choreographing this moment/experience."
Many commenters slammed her, saying her routine was too 'dangerous' for the child, that she could slip and fall on the child. Many even asked child protective services to be called. Ashley said she couldn't be bothered about other people's opinion and refused to take down the video

Mr. Ikuru stated that, as a person from Rivers State, he would not be forgiven if he opposed the reelection of President Goodluck Jonathan who hails from the same geopolitical zone known as the south south.
Mr. Ikuru also accused his erstwhile party, the APC, of being a party of insurgents. Following the postponement of general elections by six weeks, President Jonathan and the PDP have gone on a spending binge to lure numerous politicians, traditional rulers, and leaders of different groups to endorse Mr. Jonathan for reelection.

BREAKING NEWS: -21-commissioners-16-assembly-members-join-deputy-governor-in-defecting-to-pdp-in-rivers-state/
We are getting more information from Rivers State, after the defection by Deputy Governor of Rivers State Engr. Tele Ikuru.
The deputy to Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Mr Tele Ikuru, Sunday, dumped his All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, describing the APC “As a party of rebels, insurgents and anarchists, clothed in robes of pretence and deceit.”
Sources in the state said the deputy governor did not leave the All Progressives Congress, APC, alone but did so with about 21 Commissioners and 16 out of 25 State House of Assembly members who initially defected with Gov. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi to the APC.
We are yet to verify some of the claims but an aide to Mr Nyesom Wike, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate who spoke to NewsWireNGR on condition of anonymity claims “the APC in Rivers state is dead and buried with the defection of commissioners and assembly members”.
Engr. Ikuru who describes the State APC as people of rebels has denounced his membership to PDP.“Ever since, as the true nature and motives of APC are unveiled, I have continued to twist and turn in extreme mental and emotional agony. The more I struggle to belong, the more the Rivers man in me rejects the APC.
“After carefully studying, interacting and analyzing the leadership of the party, I have come to the sad conclusion that the APC is a party of rebels, insurgents and anarchists, clothed in robes of pretence and deceit. APC is a party founded on deception and it thrives on unholy propaganda and falsehood.
The leader of PDP and PDP Gubernatorial candidate in the state, Chief Hon. Barr. Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike has already set up a committee to officially welcome them into the party by tomorrow Monday 23rd March, 2015.
If you missed the speech earlier issued by the deputy governor when he defected earlier today, read here I wish to urge all My Supporters, the Good People of Rivers State to join hands with other well-meaning Nigerians to massively vote for President GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN.

LASU students for the state government to a standstill
The school also stated that students and staff are, therefore, advised to vacate the campus immediately, stressing that the date of resumption will be announced later.
However, workers in the university have continued their protest, which started last week Monday, calling on the Vice Chancellor, Professor John Obafunwa, to proceed on terminal leave and asking the state government to give the university an acting vice chancellor.
The protest, which caused a heavy traffic along the LASU-Ojo-Badagry Expressway, had all unions of the universities in attendance, chanting anti-Obafunwa songs and displaying placards with various inscription such as: ‘LASU workers need a change from dictatorship to listening administrator’, among others.
Speaking with Daily Independent, Chairman of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), LASU chapter, Saheed Oseni, explained that the agitations of the unions are almost the same.
He alleged that the state government removed and damaged the cars and buses that were used to barricade the gates of the school by the unions and forced the gate opened.
He also stressed that workers in the university are working under fear, stating that mere looking at the scenario from outside, it seems all is well, which is far from the reality.
“Our people are working in fear but when you look at it, it seems everything is peaceful but it is far from it; we are working in fear,” he said.
He also said the management are administering the university as if they are running a private establishment, stressing that workers are been victimised, and that junior officers are placed highly above the senior officers.

PDP Has Plunged Nigeria Into Economic Crisis – Amaechi
http://communitymat.blogspot.com/
Rivers State governor and director-general of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has called on Nigerians to vote out President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming general elections for plunging the country into economic crisis.
This is as unknown gunmen temporarily disrupted the ward-to-ward campaign rally of the APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Dr Dakuku Adol Peterside, at Bakana community in Degema local government area of the state yesterday.
The attack by unknown gunmen, which was immediately brought under control by security operatives, made up of the Police, Navy, Army and the Department of State Services (DSS), came less than three days after a similar attack was carried out against the campaign train of the governorship candidate of the PDP in the state, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike.
Amaechi, who spoke at Abonnema, headquarters of Akuku-Toru local government area of the state, during the APC ward-to-ward campaign, said the PDP-led federal government has run out of cash due to its profligacy.
The governor, who predicted that the dollar will soar against the naira in the coming days, urged the people to vote out PDP and vote in APC for the economic survival and revival of the country.
He said, “Because they have stolen all the money, there is no money to steal anywhere. So, they can’t even pay for fuel.”
The remaining money they have stolen for campaign, so your suffering has started.
“When we were meeting in Abuja, we were planning on what to do about the election. We said God will deliver this election for us. Now, how many of us know how much a dollar costs now? It is N225; I am predicting that before March 28, it will be N265 per dollar.”
Also speaking, the APC governorship candidate, Peterside said if elected into office on April 11, his administration will empower women, youths and also carry out reclamation in Abonnema to expand the city, adding that the APC led government at the state and federal level will ensure speedy development of Kalabari.
The governorship candidate, earlier led the Greater Together Campaign Organization (GTCO) team to wards in Bille, Bakana and Tombia communities, all in Degema local government area before going to Abonnema, urged the APC women and youth leaders to mobilise their members to turn out en masse on election days of March 28 and April 11 to vote for all APC candidates.

The Beginning of the End of Boko Haram
Sponsored post.
Adeoye Akinsanya in his book, An introduction to Political Science in Nigeria, reports: “In 1983, when Chadian forces invaded Nigeria in the Borno State, Buhari used the forces under his command to chase them out of the country, crossing into Chadian territory in spite of an order given by then President Shagari to withdraw. This 1983 Chadian military affair led to more than 100 victims and "prisoners of war". Chivalrous as this act may have seemed at the time, it would turn out to be sheer tomfoolery because for a long time, Nigeria would have to deal with a lack-lustre, if not even frosty, relationship with her close regional neighbours.
When the Boko Haram insurgency, which reared its head in earnest
in 2009 and fuelled inopportunely by rogue elites for the 2007 elections, took
root, it was time to hem in the insurgents and deal decisively with their
undesirable acts. It was a tough act. Some antagonists of government had
earlier promised to foment violence after losing out in the 2007 elections.
Their actions would lead to sabotage, divisiveness and outright support for the
insurgency. They infiltrated the ranks of government and the armed forces and
caused esprit-de-corps to dip among the rank and file. Added to this, Nigeria
was not getting all the much needed support from her neighbours in arresting
the miscreants. Things got so out of hand that suicide bombings, kidnappings,
mass murder and land grabs were the order of the day.
It has taken the sagacity and tact by the President and
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, to
reverse the plunge. Firstly, he moved to equip the armed forces through
trainings and provision of cutting-edge military hardware. Then, he engaged
Nigeria’s neighbours in fruitful diplomatic reengagement. In the process, the
much needed esprit-de-corps among the Nigerian troops was revived and a
previously taciturn neighbourhood came alive in helping to fight the
insurgents. In the past few weeks, Boko Haram has been on the back foot. The
once dreaded group has now been reduced to a mere gang of irritants. It won’t
be long before the entire insurgency is totally decimated.
Assuming Nigeria were to continue with a stymied principle of
dealing with every problem with force and farce, how successful would it have
been in dealing with the Boko Haram insurgency? The skirmish of 1983 not only took
Nigeria backwards in her regional diplomacy, it was not well thought out and
has unwittingly cost Nigeria so much in terms of men and resources. Its
progenitor actually even boasts about it without much discernment. We must not
go back to such mindless strong-arm diplomacy. It is wasteful and needless.
Rather, the path taken by Nigeria’s President and Commander-in-Chief is the way
to go and should be a lesson in strategy and regional engagement for years to
come. That’s why it is key that all Nigerians should reelect Dr. Goodluck Ebele
Jonathan on March 28, 2015.

Student loses 90% of her skin and left almost blind in horror drug allergy
http://communitymat.blogspot.com/
24 year old student Khaliah Shaw was left almost blind, screaming in
agony and lost 90% of her skin as a result of a rare allergic reaction
to a
common prescription drug she was prescribed for bipolar.
When she first started experiencing discomfort, Khaliah, from Georgia, US, was told she had the flu but one night she woke up to agonising pain as her skin fell off. Her hair and fingernails had also fallen out and her body covered in open wounds.
She was prescribed the medication, Lamotrigine in 2013 while a student at Georgia College and State University and within a month of being prescribed the anti-seizure drug, Shaw had developed a purple rash, and had blisters inside her eyes and mouth, and on her hands and feet. Doctors initially had no idea what was wrong with her, and isolated her thinking she had an infectious disease.
She had to be sedated for five weeks. She had to relearn how to walk, sit, stand and feed herself, and was kept in hospital for seven weeks.

Khaliah is now raising awareness of Stevens-Johnson
Syndrome, the condition which nearly killed her
"It was a shock to see that... all my hair had come off. I didn't have any fingernails. When
I realized all my hair was gone, I cried," Shaw wrote on her blog.
"When my friends came to see me, I cried. When I realized I couldn't
walk, I cried. When I left the hospital, I cried. EVERY time I look hard
enough in the mirror, I cry. Crying has become my thing because…I don’t
know what else to do! I literally feel like I woke up in another persons body.
"It breaks my heart when people stare at me. It tears me up when I sense that people are weirded out by my appearance. If
I choose to stop living, then SJS wins. And we ALL KNOW that is NOT
happening! Not today. Not tomorrow. So it’s time to put on the armor of
God and fight. HARD."
"It still haunts me to think about everything they did to me while I
was in hospital. I can still hear the IV machines beeping. I never want
to end up in the burn unit EVER again. There are still things I avoid to this day because it
reminds me of that time. And no amount of discomfort is worth getting
SJS again. NONE.”
Shaw hopes to return to university to continue her graduate studies in
public health, but told Fox Los Angeles: "The biggest thing is I would
love to have my vision back."
Angelina Jolie, 39, has ovaries and fallopian tubes removed
http://communitymat.blogspot.com/
At 39, Angelina Jolie can never have kids again. But thankfully she has
six children already. The actress revealed in an article she wrote for
New York Times published today that she's had her ovaries and fallopian
tubes removed as a preventative measure against cancer.
She said she had the surgery last week as she carries a gene that gave her a 50% risk of developing ovarian cancer. This surgery is coming two years after she had a double mastectomy to prevent breast cancer. Read what she wrote in her New York Times article after the cut...

Two years ago I wrote about my choice to have a preventive double mastectomy. A simple blood test had revealed that I carried a mutation in the BRCA1 gene. It gave me an estimated 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer. I lost my mother, grandmother and aunt to cancer.

Angelina Jolie Pitt: Diary of a Surgery (as first published on New York Times)
Two years ago I wrote about my choice to have a preventive double mastectomy. A simple blood test had revealed that I carried a mutation in the BRCA1 gene. It gave me an estimated 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer. I lost my mother, grandmother and aunt to cancer.
I
wanted other women at risk to know about the options. I promised to
follow up with any information that could be useful, including about my
next preventive surgery, the removal of my ovaries and fallopian tubes.
I
had been planning this for some time. It is a less complex surgery than
the mastectomy, but its effects are more severe. It puts a woman into
forced menopause. So I was readying myself physically and emotionally,
discussing options with doctors, researching alternative medicine, and
mapping my hormones for estrogen or progesterone replacement. But I felt
I still had months to make the date.
Then
two weeks ago I got a call from my doctor with blood-test results.
“Your CA-125 is normal,” he said. I breathed a sigh of relief. That test
measures the amount of the protein CA-125 in the blood, and is used to
monitor ovarian cancer. I have it every year because of my family
history.
But
that wasn’t all. He went on. “There are a number of inflammatory
markers that are elevated, and taken together they could be a sign of
early cancer.” I took a pause. “CA-125 has a 50 to 75 percent chance of
missing ovarian cancer at early stages,” he said. He wanted me to see
the surgeon immediately to check my ovaries.
I
went through what I imagine thousands of other women have felt. I told
myself to stay calm, to be strong, and that I had no reason to think I
wouldn’t live to see my children grow up and to meet my grandchildren.
I
called my husband in France, who was on a plane within hours. The
beautiful thing about such moments in life is that there is so much
clarity. You know what you live for and what matters. It is polarizing,
and it is peaceful.
That
same day I went to see the surgeon, who had treated my mother. I last
saw her the day my mother passed away, and she teared up when she saw
me: “You look just like her.” I broke down. But we smiled at each other
and agreed we were there to deal with any problem, so “let’s get on with
it.”
Nothing in the examination or ultrasound
was concerning. I was relieved that if it was cancer, it was most
likely in the early stages. If it was somewhere else in my body, I would
know in five days. I passed those five days in a haze, attending my
children’s soccer game, and working to stay calm and focused.
The
day of the results came. The PET/CT scan looked clear, and the tumor
test was negative. I was full of happiness, although the radioactive
tracer meant I couldn’t hug my children. There was still a chance of
early stage cancer, but that was minor compared with a full-blown tumor.
To my relief, I still had the option of removing my ovaries and
fallopian tubes and I chose to do it.
I
did not do this solely because I carry the BRCA1 gene mutation, and I
want other women to hear this. A positive BRCA test does not mean a leap
to surgery. I have spoken to many doctors, surgeons and naturopaths.
There are other options. Some women take birth control
pills or rely on alternative medicines combined with frequent checks.
There is more than one way to deal with any health issue. The most
important thing is to learn about the options and choose what is right
for you personally.
In my case, the Eastern and Western doctors I met agreed that surgery to
remove my tubes and ovaries was the best option, because on top of the
BRCA gene, three women in my family have died from cancer. My doctors
indicated I should have preventive surgery about a decade before the
earliest onset of cancer in my female relatives. My mother’s ovarian
cancer was diagnosed when she was 49. I’m 39.
Last
week, I had the procedure: a laparoscopic bilateral
salpingo-oophorectomy. There was a small benign tumor on one ovary, but
no signs of cancer in any of the tissues.
I
have a little clear patch that contains bio-identical estrogen. A
progesterone IUD was inserted in my uterus. It will help me maintain a
hormonal balance, but more important it will help prevent uterine
cancer. I chose to keep my uterus because cancer in that location is not
part of my family history.
It
is not possible to remove all risk, and the fact is I remain prone to
cancer. I will look for natural ways to strengthen my immune system. I
feel feminine, and grounded in the choices I am making for myself and my
family. I know my children will never have to say, “Mom died of ovarian
cancer.”
Regardless
of the hormone replacements I’m taking, I am now in menopause. I will
not be able to have any more children, and I expect some physical
changes. But I feel at ease with whatever will come, not because I am
strong but because this is a part of life. It is nothing to be feared.
I
feel deeply for women for whom this moment comes very early in life,
before they have had their children. Their situation is far harder than
mine. I inquired and found out that there are options for women to
remove their fallopian tubes but keep their ovaries, and so retain the
ability to bear children and not go into menopause. I hope they can be
aware of that.
It
is not easy to make these decisions. But it is possible to take control
and tackle head-on any health issue. You can seek advice, learn about
the options and make choices that are right for you. Knowledge is power.

An Airbus plane operated by Lufthansa's Germanwings budget airline
carrying 144 passengers and 6 crew crashed in southern France this
morning. The airbus A320 was flying from Barcelona, Spain to
Duesseldorf, Germany when it disappeared from radar in the Alpes de

Everyone on board is feared dead after debris from the plane was found scattered over a wild area near Barcelonnette hours later. The cause of the crash is not yet known.
French President Francois Hollande said
"There were 148 people on board. The conditions of the accident, which
have not yet been clarified, lead us to think there are no survivors."
The crashed A320 is 24 years old and has been with the parent Lufthansa group since 1991, according to online database
