2015 Ford Mustang
For
glamorous automobile lovers, 2015 may be starting on an explosive note
as one of the world’s most iconic cars, Ford Mustang, is set to roar
into the Nigeria market with two powerful engines.
This is the first time the Mustang is
being introduced to Nigeria, says a report by Coscharis Motors, a
co-exclusive franchise holder for the Ford brand of vehicles in Nigeria.
“Coscharis Motors is set to introduce the
all new Ford Mustang into the Nigerian market for the first time ever.
This follows the successful introduction of the Ford Ecosport, Fusion,
Edge and Flex variants by the company,” it stated.
The Mustang is an American elegant automobile described as the heart and soul of Ford.
The Vice President, Ford Global Product
Development, Mr. Raj Nair, said, “Ford Mustang inspires passion like no
other car. The visceral look, sound and performance of Mustang resonates
with people, even if they’ve never driven one. Mustang is definitely
more than just a car – it is the heart and soul of Ford.”
According to the Coscharis’ Group
Managing Director, Mr. Josiah Samuel, the Mustang will be available
before the end of this first quarter.
“We believe the Mustang is a must have
among all lovers of premium automobile in Nigeria. In line with our
vision statement, our focus is always to remain timeless in our
relevance to automobile consumers,” he said.
Engine performance
Having made thousands of appearances in
film, television, music and video games, it is easily known as the
world’s most-liked vehicle on Facebook.
According to the manufacturer, the
vehicle’s impact goes beyond the over, nine million cars sold in its 50
years of continuous production.
It is loaded with innovative technologies and delivers high levels of performance and style.
Although, three engine options are
available in the new Mustang — 3.7 litres V6, 2.3 litres EcoBoost and
five litres V8, only the last two will be sold in Nigeria as confirmed
by Coscharis.
Both engines are mated to either a
six-speed manual or the optional SelectShift automatic transmission with
Steering Wheel Paddle Shifters and Remote Start System.
The Mustang’s EcoBoost engine uses direct
injection, variable cam timing and turbocharging to deliver plenty of
usable performance across a broad rev range.
Coscharis also says, “On a twisty back
road or a weekend track day, the driver can tap the toggle switches on
the console to quickly adjust steering effort, engine response, and
transmission and electronic stability control settings using the
available Selectable Drive Modes to create the perfect Mustang at any
time.
“The advanced new Ford-developed
stability control system is tuned to maximise Mustang’s dynamic
capabilities. When the time comes to turn up the wick at the track,
Mustang GT includes standard launch control on manual-transmission
models that enables drivers to achieve smooth, consistent starts every
time.”
Exterior
Ford says the 2015 model design of both
the Ford Mustang Fastback and Convertible retains the key design
elements of the Mustang brand, which will make an unforgettable
impression on those who have never experienced the astonishing car.
It gives its key external features as a
reduced roof height; widened body and widened rear track, which
contribute to its low and wide stance; a new front fascia that flows
into taut bodylines; a sleeker profile on Mustang Fastback, which
features a steeply raked windshield and rear glass; and a new execution
of the signature shark-nose front fascia with trapezoidal grille.
It also has high-intensity discharge
headlamps with Led signature lighting; a unified side glass;
three-dimensional, tri-bar tail-lamps with Led sequential turn signals.
Interior
The new Mustang has an aviation-inspired cockpit and a level of craftsmanship that celebrates its true heritage.
Its key interior features are a classic
twin-eyebrow instrument panel; a chrome-accent instrument cluster that
features two large, round gauges separated by 4.2-inch colour screen;
unique dash panel badge with the galloping pony logo and the words
“Mustang-Since 1964”
It has Recaro sport bucket seats, heated
and cooled front seats, manual tilt/telescoping steering wheel, new
centre console and sunglasses storage bin.
New technology
The all-new Mustang features a
significant amount of innovative technologies providing drivers with
enhanced information, control and connectivity.
It is equipped with features such as intelligent access with push-button start, SYNC and MyKey, standard Track Apps.
